I tried to be a doctor, but was terrified by blood,
I tried to be an author, but the words just wouldn’t come,
I’m not a judge or vet, a nurse or chef,
Couldn’t cope with all the stress,
I tried to be a lawyer, but couldn’t turn the other cheek,
I tried to be a dancer, but I was born with two left feet,
My office desk, was such a mess,
Just like inside my head,
My brother is a chemist working in a sterile lab,
Tries to solve the hunger crisis with precision and with facts,
But as for me, please don’t take offence,
While I’ve got tunes and pencil lead,
There’s things I can’t leave unsaid,
I hope you understand,
I tried to be an actor, but I couldn’t play the part,
Every time I’m criticized I take everything to heart,
I tried to sculpt, but the clay was dry,
Cracks appeared all down each side,
My friend she is a teacher, working in a hostile school,
Tries to educate her students with her knowledge and her rules,
But I’m a bard, I’m a minstrel and I crave the open road,
Never knowing where I’m going,
With no home to call my own,
Playing show after show,
So many nights spent all alone,
I tried to be a painter, but all the colours turned to brown,
I tried to mix them equally so none felt left out,
In their case, each has their place,
Somewhere to belong.

Helghyer makes pretty music. Music that tells stories. Music that makes you want to walk barefoot through the woods with
your cape billowing in the breeze. Music that makes you think that maybe, just maybe... magic really could exist.
